Topic 1: Preview of Persuasive Presentation Skills
How to make your Presentation interesting with more Spice! People judge us by the way we speak not only by the content of our presentation. If we can’t tell it, we can’t sell it! Whether or not we are in sales or conducting a training session, we all have to sell ... if not our products, then our ideas, our organizations and ourselves! No matter what our business, we need to speak - if not from the podium to several hundred, then at a meeting or conversing one on one. How well we communicate to get our message across, to convince and to persuade will determine the level of our success.
Topic 2: Preview of Influencing & Negotiation Skills
How do you know that you have communicated your message Successfully? The importance of influencing and negotiating are not about winning at all costs. To influence and negotiate, we recognize that we enter into the negotiation by aligning both party's goals in such a way that both sides win in the long term (the bigger picture) irrespective of whether we are the buyer or the seller. We want to win people round without causing conflict or disagreement. When we become more aware of the impact we have on others as well as an understanding of what drives our key counterpart’s opinion and position is vital when influencing and negotiating.

Topic: Changing Business Mindset: A Workshop on Managing Organisations from a Different Perspective; An Introduction of System Thinking & Fifth Discipline Workshop by Dr. Rod Allan
“I’m working on the question of why today, all over the world, we’re facing massive failure of institutions – they’re “crashing” in practically all parts of society”
- Dr. Claus Otto Scharmer
Synopsis
From the beginning of the industrial revolution, all the way up to the 20th Century; much of our thinking and mindsets are dominated by scientific thinking. Many of our opinions and notions about everything around us, relies on a mental model of objective and logical scientific reasoning; contradicting philosophical views that assume that the universe is a subjective one - “to be is to be perceived” (Esse Est Precipi, Berkeley) – which was pretty much the dominant world view for thousands of years before the age of Science.
But in as much as Science is credited for Human’s rapid development, it is equally cursed for many of mankind’s pressing social and environmental problems it is facing today. It is also widely criticized for simplifying complex human problems into mathematical equations, viewing them in a closed linear system.
And in spite of the database of knowledge that we have developed through the past two hundred years of scientific pursuits, we have failed to find effective and long lasting remedies to some of the most pressing social and environmental problems today.
Perhaps because science has essentially reduce— if not eliminated — the role of culture, human interaction and the environment as part and parcel of the complex dynamics of the universe, and in the grand scheme of things, particularly the social world order.
This workshop seminar will introduce the idea of Postmodernism and Systems Thinking as a tool for managing and understanding human organizations today, in light of the new challenges of globalization.
Outline::
- The Beer Game, Exercise – an Introduction to Systems Thinking (no actual drinking involved).
- Systems Thinking and The Fifth Dimension according to Senge
